DesignLayer Area Properties

The following properties and commands are displayed when a layer area is selected in a label template. Properties especially specific to a layer area are displayed on the Home tab and in the Properties pane when a layer area is selected. Also, the Layers panel, accessed by clicking View > Layers, provides additional properties and commands.

Tip: For general information about layers or information about adding a layer areaClosed A type of area that contains a reference to either an existing layer object or to a data ref that resolves to the path to a layer object. A layer area can be added to the Label view of a label template. to a label template, see Using Layers. Tip: You can manage whether the layer area is displayed or hidden. For more information, see Layers Panel.

Tip: Properties for positioning a layer area relative to the envelope of that field are listed in the Layers panel, while those for positioning a layer area relative to the label are listed in the Position section of the Arrange tab.

Tip: You can change the stacking order of layer areas relative to each other by dragging the layer areas in the Layers panel. The stacking order of the layers is the same as their order in the list. You can change the position of a layer area in the stacking order of all fields and areas by using commands in the Position section of the Arrange tab.

Note: A Name, Data Ref, or Input Data Ref can include letters and numbers. Additionally, the following characters are permitted but cannot begin the name: hyphens, underscores, and periods.
