DevicesUsing a Loftware NiceLabel Driver

You can configure Loftware Enterprise SP to print to a device using a Loftware NiceLabel driver, leveraging native capabilities that deliver superior print performance and reduced bandwidth consumption compared to Windows drivers.

Loftware NiceLabel drivers use the LPA (Loftware Print Agent) connection type in Loftware Enterprise SP. The following information describes the differences between managing and printing to devices through an LPA connection versus through a TCP/IP or other connection type.

  • The capabilities in StatusStatus that send commands directly to a device (such as cancel, pause, and resume) are not supported for Loftware devices.
  • A limited number of Device Specific Options (DSOs) are supported for Loftware devices. For the DSOs that are not supported, the devices will use the options that are configured through the Loftware NiceLabel driver preferences. The DSOs that are supported for Loftware devices include Resolution (DPI) (populated by the device and is read-only in Loftware Enterprise SP), Orientation, Send Field As (for devices using Loftware NiceLabel drivers only), Text Box Overrun Mode, Print label as Image, and Advanced Troubleshooting (Print stream scripting).

To print using a Loftware NiceLabel driver, the following tasks must be performed:

  1. Download and install the Loftware NiceLabel driver. For more information, see https://www.nicelabel.com/downloads/printer-drivers (administrator of the computer).
  2. Define Default Printer Settings (administrator of the computer).

Important: To ensure that your device settings are applied when printing and that all users have the same device settings, you must define the settings for the device on the Windows Server where the Loftware driver is installed. For more information, see Define Default Printer Settings

  3. Configure a Remote Site (Loftware Enterprise SP administrator or Device Admin).
  4. Install the Loftware Print Agent (Loftware Enterprise SP administrator or Device Admin and administrator of the computer).
  5. Create an LPA Device Connection (Loftware Enterprise SP administrator or Device Admin).
