DesignImport a New Image

You can import a new image into the Loftware Enterprise™ SP library. See Bulk Import Images for information on importing multiple images in one action.

Tip: You can also import images or other objects that were previously exported from Loftware Enterprise SP as import (SER) files. For more information, see Import a Label Template or Other Object.

To import a new image, use the following procedure.

Important: If you are importing objects that were exported via File > Export from Spectrum 5.0 or earlier versions, see Allow Unsigned Files to be Imported.

  1. In Label Design Label Design, click > Image.
  2. In the Home tab, click Browse to select an image file to import into the library, and then click Open.
  3. Note: Loftware Enterprise SP supports images that use an RGB color model and one of the following file formats: PNG, GIF, JPG, BMP, SVG, or PCX.

  4. If you are importing an SVG file, select a DPI from the Image DPI box and then click OK.
  5. Click File > Save As, enter a name for the image, and save the image to the Images\User Images folder.

    ClosedCharacters permitted in names

    The following characters are permitted in the name: letters, numbers, parentheses, square brackets, ampersands, plus signs, equal signs, commas, semi-colons, and tildes. Additionally, the following characters are permitted but cannot begin or end the name: spaces, double quotation marks, single quotation marks, hyphens, underscores, periods, and grave accents. For letters, the case that you specify is displayed, but case is ignored when Loftware Enterprise SP interprets a name. If you will be installing the Loftware Enterprise SP application on a computer running Windows Server, and transferring data between Loftware Enterprise SP instances, see the "Transferring Data in a Compressed File" section of the Loftware Enterprise SP Data Transfer Guide.

    Note: Loftware Enterprise SP converts all image files to PNG, so you must give each image that you import a name that is unique within the folder where it is saved.

If the image is saved to a version-controlled folder, the image is automatically saved as a published version to ensure that it can be printed by a Data ProviderClosed Person or process that enters data into a form or other data entry view for a label that was configured by a Designer. A user acting as a Data Provider requires the DOCUMENT_PRINTER role or equivalent permissions. with the DOCUMENT_PRINTER role. It is not necessary to manually publish the image.
