Layout Properties

The following are properties that describe a layout An object that defines an organizational structure for printing multiple labels by using one or more label templates. and affect how any label template A digital representation of a label that can be combined with variable data and used by print jobs to generate print job details. to which the layout is attached is printed. These properties can be configured in the ribbon when the layout is opened for editing.

Note: You can attach a version-controlled layout to a label template before the layout is published; however, you must publish a version-controlled layout before printing a label template containing the layout or the print job will fail.

Label Orientation or Orientation

Property	Description	Values	Notes
Orientation	The direction objects are aligned in the printed label.	Portrait: Objects are aligned on the narrowest span of the label, like the pages of a book. Landscape: Objects are aligned on the widest span of the label, as on a typical video display.	This property is ignored on PCL 5 devices. Icon	Command	Description
	Properties	Display the Properties pane if it is closed.
	Tags	View, configure, and manage the tag values applied to this label template or other object. For more information, see Categorize a Label Template or Other Object.
	Fill Groups	Manage the order in which available labels are inserted into layout areas in a layout. A fill group specifies a start origin, fill direction, and match rule. For more information, see Configure Fill Groups for a Layout.
	Layout Specific Options	View, configure, and manage Layout Specific Options to override device settings on a per-device model basis for this layout. For more information, see Override Device Options with Layout Specific Options.
	Linked Text Box Group	View, configure, and manage linked text boxes for this layout. For more information, see Link Text Boxes.

Grid

Command	Description	Values
Show Grid (Points)	Display or hide an overlay grid on the label template or other object to assist with aligning objects. The dots or lines of the grid are not displayed in printed labels or in the forms displayed to Data Providers.
Align to Grid	Force the top left corner of an item to align with the nearest alignment overlay intersection or dot.
Grid Spacing	Height and width of a grid square. The value is dependent on the unit of measure for the label template.
Line	The type of alignment overlay. The dots or lines of the grid are not displayed in printed labels or in the forms displayed to Data Providers.	Dot Line Dotted Line Dashed Line
