Modifications to your Loftware Software that Involve Acquiring a New Product License from Customer Service
Problem
Related Loftware Family Products are in "Demo Mode":
- Loftware Label
A label is a design area on the computer screen where a label format is created or edited. Manager (LLM)
- Loftware Print Server (LPS)
Particularly where the software previously had a valid product license.
Explanation
Please note that this document is not intended to cover every reason why a new license will be acquired. This article addresses likely scenarios that cause the Loftware product (go into Demo Mode) licenses to become invalid and require a new one be obtained from Loftware's customer support.
Entering Demo Mode
Provided are common dialog windows that may be encountered upon entering into Demo Mode.
If the LPS service is running and you have made any changes to the way the hardware key is configured, you must stop and then restart the service in order for the changes to be recognized.
Potential Reasons
Loftware Print Server (LPS)
- The Server where the LPS product resides was virtualized
- MAC address has changed
- The LPS Server name has changed
- The Operating System on the server where our LPS product resides was changed
- The LPS was upgraded to a newer version
- The current LPS installation was moved to a new machine
Loftware Label Manager (LLM)
- The Operating System where the LLM product resides was changed
- The LLM was upgraded to a newer version
- The current LLM installation was moved to a new machine
- The computer name has changed
Additionally, here are some other circumstances in which Loftware (LLM)/(LPS) can go into Demo Mode:
Entering Demo Mode
To verify Loftware has entered into Demo Mode:
- Launch Design32 from the system detected to be running in Demo Mode.
- Go to Help, then select "About Loftware Label Manager".
- As shown in the screenshot below "Demo00000000" the program is running in Demo Mode.
Additional Steps to Confirm your Loftware Product Serial has become invalid:
- Navigate to the Loftware Labeling directory located at
- C:\Program Files (x86) for 64 bit OS
- C:\Program Files for 32 bit OS
- Launch Gatekeeper.exe
Identifier for Loftware
Make note of the "Identifier for Loftware" if this number is different from your company's records then contact Loftware Customer Service to request a permanent replacement password or to initiate the key replacement process.
Solution
There are two (2) steps to take to resolve this issue after you have reviewed the above article and determined the issue experienced is relates to the information provided.
- Contact Loftware Customer Service to request a permanent replacement password or to initiate the key replacement process during normal business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday EST.
- Emergency Mode: Emergency Mode allows you to run Loftware for a short period of time (10 printing days) after a key or password license failure during production. It is a temporary solution if you require immediate restoration of Loftware label printing operations during non-business hours for the eastern coast of the United States.
Emergency Mode
Note: Emergency Mode is only available if you purchase and license LPS and your Identifier for Loftware has not changed.
WARNING: Do not use Emergency Mode on the primary node of a cluster; LPS may not fail over in Emergency Mode. If the license fails on the primary node, it is best to fail over to the backup node. If the licenses on both nodes fail, then the Emergency Mode should be used to resume production.
Note: Emergency Mode is a one-time mode. Make sure you contact Loftware Customer Service before the 10-day countdown expires for a reset of your original license.
