Promote Objects (Direct Access)
You can use any promotion configuration A plan specifying objects to promote from this Loftware Application Server to a specified destination server. It also includes any parameter values to be replaced in data services on the destination server when promotion occurs. In the System Management page, the Object Promotion Source pane lists the promotion configurations for which this Loftware Application Server acts as the source server. on this Loftware Application Server to promote
To transfer a copy of objects specified in a promotion configuration from the source server to the destination server. objects from this Loftware Application Server (source) to another Loftware Application Server (destination). Each object is promoted to the same location in the folder structure of the destination server that it occupies on the source server. If a promotion configuration specifying the objects that you want to promote does not already exist, see Create a Promotion Configuration (Direct Access).
Important! If you are promoting objects directly, the destination server specified in the promotion configuration must be configured to allow this Loftware Application Server to promote objects to it. For more information, see Configure a Destination Server (Direct Access).
If you can directly access the destination server from the source server, use the following procedure to promote objects from the source server to a destination server.
Note: To perform this task, you must be signed in as the ClientAdmin or SuperAdmin user. For more information, see Controlling Access to System Settings.
- On the source server, in System
- Click the promotion configuration that lists the objects that you want to promote.
- In the Configuration panel, click Update References to ensure that objects referenced by the explicitly selected objects are included.
- If the Save
button is active, click Save
to save the changes to the promotion configuration, and then click Update References.
- In the Promote Objects panel, click Promote.
- In the Destination Server User Credentials dialog box, enter the Loftware Enterprise SP username and password of a local account user that has access to the destination server. This must be a local user account that is internal to Loftware Enterprise SP and not a domain/SSO account.
Tip: Users who promote or import label templates, applications, business rules, forms, images, layer objects, layouts, reusable objects, or workflow templates should have Create permission for Documents and Write permission for Documents on the destination server. Likewise, users who promote or import other types of objects should have Create permission and Write Permission for the relevant object types. Create permission is required for promoting or importing into a folder where an object of the same name does not exist. Write permission is required for promoting or importing into a folder where an object of the same name already exists.
- Click OK. A dialog box is displayed that indicates whether the promotion attempt was successful and which objects were promoted. Additionally, in the Properties pane, the Last Promotion property displays the time of your promotion attempt.
You have promoted objects from one Loftware Application Server to another. Each object that has been promoted is added to the destination server as a new minor version of the object, with the exception of objects that are of a type that does not support minor versions.
