SystemCreate or Modify a Facility

You can create or modify a facilityClosed An object in Loftware that represents the location of a Loftware Application Server and Loftware Database Server that are associated with a headquarters (HQ). These servers must be associated with a Loftware license for which Usage is set to Facility and Multi-Site is set to true. Each facility can communicate with only one headquarters. By synchronizing, an HQ can replicate objects to facilities and replicate transactional data generated at facilities back to the HQ. in a multi-site deployment of Loftware Enterprise SP in which a Loftware Enterprise SP instanceClosed A Loftware Application Server and a Loftware Database Server that are associated with each other by a Loftware Enterprise - SP License. at one siteClosed A geographical location, such as the location of a Loftware instance or a remote computer. is synchronized with Loftware Enterprise SP instances at other sites. By synchronizing, an HQ can replicate objects to facilities and replicate transactional data generated at facilities back to the HQ. that communicates with facilities. Objects can be configured at the headquarters and replicated to each facility. Any job data generated at facilities can be replicated to the headquarters.

Note: Facilities and other functionality related to multi-site deployment are available only if your Loftware Enterprise SP license has the Multi-Site property enabled. Some options are displayed only if you are signed in to the headquarters site.

Tip: It is recommended that you install the Loftware Enterprise SP application and database at each facility site before you create the facility object in Loftware Enterprise SP. The name of the root folder in Loftware Enterprise SP must be the same at the headquarters site and at each facility site associated with that headquarters. The headquarters and facility sites must be able to communicate, but facilities are not required to be able to communicate with each other.

Create a Facility

To create a facility in System System Management, use the following procedure. If your permissions permit, you can also create a facility in Access Control Access Control. For more information or to manage access to the facility, see Create a Facility.

Note: To perform this task, you must be signed in as the ClientAdmin or SuperAdmin user. For more information, see Controlling Access to System Settings.

  1. In System System Management, click Facilities.
  2. In the New panel, click Facility.
  3. For Facility Location, enter a description of the physical location of the facility. The Facility Location is a comment intended to assist administrators and is not used by Loftware Enterprise SP to identify or connect to the facility.
  4. For Facility URL, enter the URL of the Loftware Application Server at the facility. Do not include the path to Loftware Enterprise SP within the Loftware Application Server.

    The following example includes a typical non-secured access port.

  5. If a load balancer manages the Loftware Application Server for the facility, then for Facility Response URL enter at the URL to connect to the load balancer that manages the facility. If the facility is not managed by a load balancer, leave this box blank. Use the same format as for the Facility URL.

    Tip: If the facility is configured for high availability, set the Facility Response URL to use the load balanced URL.

  6. For Print From HQ, indicate whether print jobs originating from the facility should be processed by a Loftware Application Server at the headquarters or at the facility. If this check box is selected, then print jobs from the facility are normally processed at the headquarters associated with this facility. If the facility is unable to connect to the headquarters, then device queues at the headquarters are stopped and the corresponding device queues at the facility are started so that print jobs can be processed at the facility site.
  7. Optionally, enter a Description of the facility in the Properties window.
  8. Click Save , select a folder, and enter a name for the facility.

Modify a Facility

To modify an existing facility in System System Management, use the following procedure.

  1. In System System Management, click Facilities.
  2. Navigate to and select the facility to modify.
  3. Make any changes as needed.
  4. Click Save .

You can schedule periodic replication of objects from headquarters to a facility, and periodic replication of transactional data used for auditing from the facility to headquarters.
