Troubleshoot Loftware Remote Print

Symptom Resolution

The device settings are not honored when printing.

To ensure that your device settings are applied when printing and that all users have the same device settings, you must define the settings for the device on the Windows Server where the Loftware driver is installed. For more information, see Define Default Printer Settings

If you have multiple remote-print users and remote devices configured in Loftware Enterprise SP, and those users have differing permissions on the configured devices, you may see errors in the spectrum.log indicating permission failures.

LifeCycleException:
Unable to gain security access to the logical printer '/Loftware Inc/FP-USB' for print operations

These errors are a confirmation that the system is checking the permissions of the signed in user. The errors do not indicate a problem with Loftware Enterprise SP or Loftware Remote Print.

The Loftware Print Agent or the Remote Print Agent is unable to connect to Loftware Enterprise SP.

In most cases, the Loftware Print Agent (LPA) or the Remote Print Agent (RPA) automatically attempts to reconnect after 5 seconds. However, in the following situations, the LPA or RPA waits 5 minutes between automatic attempts to reconnect.

  • The LPA or RPA version is incompatible with the version of Loftware Enterprise SP running on the Loftware Application Server. It may eventually stop trying to reconnect.

You must upgrade Loftware Enterprise SP or the LPA or RPA as appropriate.

  • The Remote Site Name or Token is not valid. This may be reported as an Invalid Request error 400 or 500. This may occur if they have been misconfigured or if an unauthorized connection has been attempted. The LPA or RPA may eventually stop trying to reconnect.

In the case of a misconfiguration, reinstall the LPA or RPA. Obtain the correct Remote Site Name and Token from the Remote Site in Devices Devices.

  • The LPA or RPA receives a Forbidden error 403 when authenticating. This may occur temporarily when the LPA or RPA is restarted.
