Force Connection Lookup
By default, Loftware Enterprise SP caches the IP address associated with a device that uses a TCP/IP connection. If the IP address of the connected device changes, your print jobs can fail. This can happen even if you have configured the connection to use a DNS name. By configuring the Force Device Connection Lookup system preference, you can force Loftware Enterprise SP to update the IP address of the device before each print job. For more information, see User Interface: System Preferences.
Note: There are performance implications to setting Force Connection Lookup to true because the DNS look-up process takes an indeterminate amount of time. An alternative is to stop and start the device in Loftware Enterprise SP when there is a change in the device.
Note: You must restart the device for the change to this setting to take effect immediately. Alternatively, you can restart the Loftware Enterprise SP server to reset all devices.
Note: IP address and DNS name resolution changes can take time to propagate throughout a network. During this time, jobs sent to the device may fail because the DNS name configured in Loftware Enterprise SP does not yet resolve to the new IP address. This is a limitation of the name resolution process, and it is not an issue with Loftware Enterprise SP.
