User Interface: LPA Connection Type
An LPA (Loftware Print Agent) connection allows you to print to a device using a Loftware NiceLabel native driver. The driver must already be installed and configured in Windows before creating the device connection in Loftware Enterprise SP.
When configuring a device connection, the following options are available in the Connection tab when you select LPA as the connection type.
Important: To ensure that your device settings are applied when printing and that all users have the same device settings, you must define the settings for the device on the Windows Server where the Loftware driver is installed. For more information, see Define Default Printer Settings

Remote Site |
A computer that has wired, wireless, or network connections to devices that are not directly accessible by a Loftware Application Server. The Loftware Print Agent must be installed on the Remote Site so that it can communicate with the Loftware Application Server and make those devices available in Loftware Enterprise SP. Each Remote Site can communicate with only one Loftware Application Server. Note: A Remote Site must run a Windows Server or Windows operating system. |

Connection Timeout Settings
Option |
Description |
Values |
---|---|---|
Connection Attempt Timeout |
The length of time to attempt to connect to a device. If a connection is not achieved, then Loftware Enterprise SP waits for the length of time specified in Retry Wait Time before attempting the connection again. |
Time in milliseconds |
Retry Wait Time |
The length of time to wait for a device connection error to be resolved before retrying the connection. |
Time in milliseconds |
Fail Job on Connection Error |
If a connection error occurs, whether or when a print job will be failed. |
Never: The job is not failed. Immediate: The job fails immediately. Timeout: The job fails if the Job Retry Timeout limit is reached. |
Job Retry Timeout |
If connection errors occur, the length of time after which to cease connection attempts and classify a print job as failed. This option is displayed only if Fail Job on Connection Error is set to Timeout. Tip: Coordinate this value with Connection Attempt Timeout and Retry Wait Time. For example, if you want to attempt a connection for 5 seconds, wait for 10 seconds, repeat, and classify the job as failed if a connection has not been achieved within 1 minute, then you would set Connection Attempt Timeout to 5000, Retry Wait Time to 10000, and Job Retry Timeout to 60. |
