Roll Back to a Previous Version
If there are problems with an object that is in a version-controlled folder, you may be able to roll back to a previous version.
If you are using object promotion The transfer of a copy of objects specified in a promotion configuration from one Loftware Application Server to another., it is recommended that you use a promotion result
A record of the success or failure of a promotion attempt. In the System Management page, the Object Promotion Destination pane lists the promotion results for which this Loftware Application Server acted as the destination server. to collectively publish or roll back promoted objects rather than managing those objects individually. For more information, see Respond to a Promotion Result.
If you are not using object promotion, you can use the following procedure to roll back a recently published version of an object if no minor versions have been checked in after it was published. Alternatively, for some types of objects you can reinstate any previous version of the object.
Roll Back to a Specific Version
If you maintain separate development and production areas, you may never need to roll back to a specific version of an object in your production area. However, if you want to roll back to any previous version of an object without deleting any versions, you can use the following procedure. You must first use Access Control
Note: You can use this procedure only for a label template, form, layer object, layout, reusable object, field data catalog, or application.
Identify the Last Good Version
If you are not sure to which version you need to roll back, you must review information about previous versions so that you can identify the last good version.
To review information about previous versions, use the following procedure.
- Click Access Control
- In the ribbon, click View > Version Info, and review the information about each version.
- If you require additional information about an object to confirm which is the last good version, note which version numbers you want to review.
- Click Label Design
- Click File > Open, select an object, select the Version that you want to review, and then click OK.
- When you are finished reviewing the object, click File > Close.
Note: You cannot have more than one version of an object open in at the same time.
- Repeat for any other versions that you want to review.
- Click Label Design
- Note the version number of the version to which you want to roll back.
Check in a Previous Version
To check in a previous version of an object so that it becomes the current version, use the following procedure.
Note: This procedure does not delete any version of the label template or other object.
- Click Label Design
- Click File > Open, select the object, and click OK to select the latest version of the object.
- Click File > Version Control > Check Out.
- Click File > Close.
- Click File > Open, select the object, select the Version to which you want to roll back, and then click OK.
- Click File > Save As, navigate to the location of the object that you checked out, select the object, and then click OK.
Important! Although the object name is populated in the Name field, you must navigate to the location of the existing object. Otherwise, you will create a new object in the root folder.
The version number displayed is changed to the latest minor version number, which was created when you checked out the object.
- Click File > Version Control > Check In.
- In the Version Control Comment dialog box, enter a description of this version so that you or another administrator can identify it, and then click OK.
