Loftware Remote Print enables users to print from Loftware Enterprise SP using devices that are not directly accessible by a Loftware Application Server. After a Loftware Enterprise SP administrator has configured a remote site in Loftware Enterprise SP (see Configure a Remote Site), an administrator of the remote computerClosed A computer outside of your LAN/WAN and on which the Loftware Print Agent is installed. A remote computer has access to devices that are not directly accessible by a Loftware Application Server. must install the Loftware Print Agent on the remote computer so that it can communicate with the Loftware Application Server and make those devices available in Loftware Enterprise SP.

Before You Begin: A Loftware Enterprise SP administrator must create a Remote Site for use by for the Loftware Print Agent and provide you with the name of the Remote Site. For more information, see Configure a Remote Site.

Note: The Loftware Print Agent is supported for use only on computers running a Windows Server or Windows operating system.

To install the Loftware Print Agent, an administrator of the remote computer should use this procedure.

  1. In Devices Devices, open the Remote Site to which you want the Loftware Print Agent to connect.
  2. Make a note of the Token displayed for the Remote Site. You will need this token when you install the Loftware Print Agent.
  3. Click Download to download the Loftware Print Agent Installer (LoftwarePrintAgent.exe).
  4. Transfer the Loftware Print Agent Installer to the Remote Site computer.

    Important: Use a single Remote Site per local network.

  5. On the Remote Site computer, double-click the installer file and respond to the following prompts.
    1. Read the End User License Agreement, and then click Accept.
    2. Install the Loftware Print Agent in the default location, or click Browse to select or create a folder location, and then click Install.

      Tip: You can install the Loftware Print Agent on any drive that is accessible by the Windows SYSTEM account.

    3. For URL, enter the URL for the Loftware Application Server using the following format.
      http(s)://<spectrum-server>:<port>

      Example

      A typical non-secured access port: http://www.example.com:8080

      A typical secured access port: https://www.example.com:8443

    4. Important: If your Loftware Application Server URL is a secured access port (https), ensure that you have applied both the intermediate and root certificates to the <LOFTSTORE_HOME>/product/conf/cacerts truststore, as described in "Configuring HTTPS" in the Loftware Enterprise SP Installation and Configuration Guide.

    5. For Site Token, enter the Token associated with the Remote Site that you obtained from the Remote Site in Devices Devices.
    6. For Remote Site Name, enter the name of the Remote Site in Devices Devices.
    7. If your Loftware Enterprise SP Remote Print will be running behind a proxy server, select the Enable Proxy Server check box and then complete the following fields.
      • For IP Address, enter the IP address of your proxy server.
      • For Port, enter the port of your proxy server.
      • If your proxy server requires authentication, select the Authentication check box and then complete Username and Password fields that Loftware Enterprise SP should use for authentication of your proxy server.
    8. Click Connect.
  6. If your computer has antivirus software, allow access to port 8080 to enable successful communication between Loftware Enterprise SP and the Loftware Print Agent. For more information, refer to your antivirus software documentation.
  7. In Windows Server, start the Loftware Remote Print service (Loftware Proxy Service) if it has not started automatically.

After installation, continue to Add Devices for a Remote Site.
