Upgrading Shared Network Printer Drivers

Description

Considerations when upgrading shared drivers for network printers when printing to them from Loftware.

Solution

When upgrading the shared driver for a network Windows printer, make sure to perform each of the following steps in order to avoid any potential conflicts that may arise after upgrading.

  1. Stop all printing and exit any running Loftware Programs (Design, On Demand Print, etc...) on the machine running Loftware. If you are utilizing the LPS, stop the LPS/WatchDog-NT also.
  2. Upgrade the printer driver on the Print Server or PC where the printer is physically attached and make sure that the printer retains the same name and configuration settings it used before upgrading.
  3. Remove the existing printer on the machine running Loftware from your Printers folder and then re-install it, making sure to use the same name and configuration settings as previously configured.

At this point you should be able to print from Loftware to the network printer without issue.
