Label Not Printing, Or Missing Data Printing To Via an Extended Systems Print Server
Description
When printing to a Datamax printer via an Extended Systems print server, fields on the label are missing or the label does not print. This is possibly due to a firmware issue.
Solution
Datamax Printers do not always print correctly if the Extended System print server port is set to Z-Link.
To correct this problem
- Check the current firmware version of the print server.
- Start Extend View software.
- Choose Diagnostics from the print server menu.
- Choose the Print Server tab.(The F/W version is the firmware version this should be 6.3 or higher).
- Contact your Datamax representative and update the firmware, if the firmware version is not 6.3 or higher, and then continue.
Changing the port using the Extend View software
- Start Extend View software.
- Choose Configuration from the print server menu.
- Choose the Output Port tab and select the port that the Datamax printer is on.
- Change the Output Type to Compatibility (No Bidirectional).
- Click OK.
- Save changes to printer server, click OK.
- Exit Extend View software.
Changing the port using a web browser
- Enter the IP address of the printer server in the address bar.
- Click on Login as Administrator and then Login.
- Click on Output Ports, choose the port the Datamax printer is on.
- Change the mode from Z-Link to Compatibility (No Bidirectional), click Submit Changes.

Click on link at the bottom of the page to reboot the print server, exit Web Browser.
