Forcing a Fixed Quantity Or Duplicate Value When Printing

Description

Using fields with the reserved field names of **QUANTITY and **DUPLICATES to specify quantity and duplicates when printing.

Solution

Loftware features two special types of variable fields: the *QUANTITY field and the **DUPLICATES field. By giving a variable or fixed field one of these reserved field names, whatever numeric value is displayed in that field at print time determines the quantity of labels or number of duplicates that is printed. The data for these fields can be pulled from any of Loftware's standard data sources, and can even be given a "clear value". This allows you to specify the default number of labels to print when the *Print command is invoked from one of the print modules.

Follow these steps to create a **QUANTITY or **DUPLICATES field on your label:

  1. Open Loftware in Design Mode
  2. Click on the variable or fixed text button on the tool bar, and then on the label.
  3. Enter **QUANTITY or **DUPLICATES for field name. **QUANTITY controls the number of different labels to print, while **DUPLICATES determines the number of each different label to print.
  4. Specify a clear or default quantity for the field, double-click the field and select "Keyboard" for the data source; enter a default value in the text box labeled "Clear-Value".
  5. Press the Save icon, or File > Save.
