Field and/or Label Rotation is Unexpected

Problem

Fields and/or labels are rotated more or less than expected, and not printing in the proper orientation because of the rotation.

Explanation

In the Loftware suite of products there is more then one place you can set the rotation of an entire label:

  1. In Design 32, the main place that the rotation of the entire label is set is in the LabelClosed A label is a design area on the computer screen where a label format is created or edited. Setup and Properties box. This box is accessed by selecting the F5 button on your keyboard. The print orientation's default is set to 0, but can be changed to 90, 180, or 270 degrees.

  2. The second most popular place to set rotation is on individual fields. The field rotation is controlled in the properties box. If you right click on the field and select Edit Field, it will bring up the properties box. About half way down in the box is the rotation property, and there you can select 0,90,180, or 270 degrees. Please remember this setting is only for this field's rotation.

  3. The third place is an individual label rotation setting per label for some printers . If you go back to Label Setup and Properties and select Label options, some printers will have a check box that says Flip Label 180 Degrees. If this check box is selected, it  it will flip the label 180 degrees. This property is usually off by default.

If any of these rotations are on at the same time, their settings are combined. For example if the Print Orientation is set to 270 degrees, and "Flip Label 180 degrees" is checked, the label will be rotated to 90 degrees.

Design32 will first rotate the field, then rotate the label based on print orientation, and then finally the Label options "Flip Label 180 degrees.

Solution

Deselect the "Flip Label 180 degrees" option, and rotate the label based on just the Print Orientation in the Label Setup and Properties. Normally, as long as you are only using one option and not multiple options, the label/fields should rotate as expected.
