Sato Native Date_Time Fields
Description
Is it possible to use the internal clock in my Sato printer to print date/time fields natively?
Solution
If your Sato printer has an internal clock*, follow these steps to configure Loftware to utilize it.
- Browse to your Windows (or WINNT) directory from the Windows Explorer, and look for one of the following files, depending on which version of Loftware you are using:
- llmwdn32.ini - Loftware Label
A label is a design area on the computer screen where a label format is created or edited. Manager (32 bit)
- llmwdsgn.ini - LLM-WIN (16 bit)
- llmwdn32.ini - Loftware Label
- Double-click the file to open it in Notepad.
- Look for a section in the file with a header of [Sato]; if one does not exist, create one on a new line at the bottom of the file.
[Sato]
DateTime= MM/DD/YYWhere MM/DD/YY is the format in which you want the date and time to print. Valid options are:
MM for a two digit month
YY for a two digit year
DD for a two digit day
hh for a two digit hour (military time)
mm for a two digit minute.
Separators such as ":" and "/" are also valid.
Example
To print 02/16/03 14:30 (Febuary 16, 2003 2:30 PM) you would enter DateTime=MM/DD/YY hh:mm - Modify or add the following setting under this section:
- Save the file and exit Notepad. Changes take effect once Loftware has been exited and re-entered.
To use the internal clock in the printer at this point:
- Place a fixed text field on your label and set the "Field Name" property to "SATODATETIME".
When the label is printed, the date and time according to your printer's internal clock prints in the variable text field's place.
Note: If your printer's clock does not support Year 2000 dates this feature may not work correctly.
