Printronix Or IBM 4400 Thermal Printer Prints What Looks Like Printer Commands Instead Of the Desired Label

Description

When printing to a Printronix or IBM 4400 Thermal printer, either the label does not print, or it prints, but contains printer language commands.

Solution

The printer may need to be put into the correct emulation mode.
When Using a Loftware Native Driver for Printronix or IBM 4400 Thermal printers, the printer must be in IGP/PGL emulation. If the printer is not in the correct emulation mode, unpredictable results can occur including:

  1. The label does not print at all. or
  2. A label prints, but contains printer commands.

The following is an example of what the printer commands may look like:
CONFIGAUTO EJECT;0ERROR REPORT;0EXT EXECUTE COPY;1FF AT TOF;0END
Some other emulations that do NOT work with the Loftware Native Printronix/IBM 4400 Thermal driver are:
IGP/VGL, PCL5, ProPrinterPlus.
Depending upon which printer driver you have, the printer may be able to switch emulations on the fly, it may need to be switched from the printer panel, or it may need to be "re-flashed" via a software upload. Consult your printer documentation to see what options are available for your printer.
