An Eltron Printer Is Printing Data Over the Gap

Description

An Eltron 2348 printer is printing data over the gap on a 6 inch label and sometimes forces the printer into an error state.

Solution

Typically, the printer's Double Buffer Mode setting is "On" and can sometimes cause this behavior. Print requests from Loftware do not send the Double Buffer Mode setting. Therefore, it should be disabled if the gap is not detected. Printing a configuration label from the printer will reveal if the setting is enabled or disabled. To print a configuration label do the following:

  1. In Design, select File > Printers or F6.
  2. Highlight the Eltron printer you are printing to and select Options. In Loftware versions 6.0 or previous, select Printer Setup.
  3. Type the following command in the Custom Command text box.
    Note: Clear this command once the configuration label is printed.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Return to Design and print a label.
  6. The configuration label prints first, followed by the label designed in Loftware.
  7. View the configuration label to see if the r command is set to Y or N.
     Y = enabled
     N = disabled

    If your printer's Double Buffer Mode setting is enabled or "On", send the following custom command to disable it:
  8. In Design, select File > Printers or F6.
  9. Select the Eltron printer you are printing to. Click Options. In Loftware versions 6.0 or previous, click Printer Setup.
  10. Type the following command in the Custom Command text box.
    N
  11. Click OK.
  12. Return to Design and print a label.
