Troubleshooting Web Listener Printing
Description
Troubleshooting Web Printing involves 3 steps: Loftware Print Server, Web Servlet A generic server extension that can be loaded dynamically to expand the functionality of a web server. Servlets are commonly used with web servers and run within a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Since servlets are all handled by separate threads within the web server process, they are very efficient and scalable. Servlets are supported on all platforms that support Java, and servlets work with all the major web servers. Loftware has developed a servlet called the LPS Web Servlet for use with the WebClient (i-Pull). See also Java Virtual Machine and WebClient (i-Pull). and Web Listener
Problem: Jobs are not printing at remote location via Web Listener
Solution
Determine if LPS is processing files
- Run the LPS Status Client
Application that allows the viewing of LPS printing activity from anywhere on the network. It allows pending jobs to be deleted and jobs to be reprinted on an as needed basis. Tree and Context views are provided to maximize the information that can be obtained. Any number of LPS servers can be monitored. Jobs can be viewed, resubmitted, or deleted with a right-click of the mouse.. Are jobs displayed as Spooled or Printed?
- Are files in the Loftware Labeling\wddrop\spooled directory?
Determine if the Servlet is connecting to LPS
- Copy the wdping.exe file from the Loftware Labeling directory to the C:\ drive.
- Start | Run | Type cmd.
- At the DOS command line, change to the C:\ drive.
- Type wdping localhost -c
- If 'pushservlet' is in the list of names, it is connected.
- If 'pushservlet' is not displayed in the list, make sure the web server and Servlet are started. If it is already started, perform a shutdown and restart and repeat section B.
Determine if the Web Listener is connecting to the Servlet
- In the Web Listener Configuration page, click the Push Servlet button and it should connect to the Servlet page, lpsrpt.jsp.
- If the page is not accessible, make sure the web server and Servlet are started. If it is already started, shutdown and restart the computer and repeat section C.
Still not processing files?
If the Servlet is connecting to LPS and the Servlet page is correctly opening and files are still not processing, perform a shutdown and restart of the web server and Servlet.
