Date_Time Fields Cause Printing To Pause

Description

Why is there a pause between the printing of each label if I have a date/time field on the label?

Solution

Because the information for date/time fields is constantly changing, it needs to be sent to the printer before each label prints in order to reflect the current time. If you do not require the date and time to be updated for each label printed then follow the steps below to configure Loftware to only send date and time data once for each print run:

  1. Select Options / Preferences from Loftware Design Mode or one of the Loftware Print Modules. The Preferences screen opens.
  2. Select the node or tab labeled "Print Modules" and then"All Print Modules". Remove the check-mark from the box labeled "Date/Time Fields Force Extended ModeClosed A printing mode where the printer requires all of the information contained on a label to be sent each time a label prints. Extended mode will have more of an impact on print speed when using true type fonts and images. See also Native Mode.".
  3. Click OK; exit Preferences. The change takes effect once Loftware LabelClosed A label is a design area on the computer screen where a label format is created or edited. Manager has been restarted and any label formats using date/time fields have been resaved.

Note: Disabling this setting causes the same date and time to print on all labels in a single print run.
