Barcodes Are Disappearing When I Change the Target Printer

Description

Barcodes are Disappearing When the Target Printer Family is Changed..in this case, from Intermec 3440 to Zebra 96xiIII.

Solution

When configuring a barcode field for a label, if a particular symbology is chosen, and subsequently this label's Target Printer Family is changed, this barcode may no longer be displayed on the label. The symbology previously chosen may not be supported in the newly selected Target Printer.

For Example
One of the possible choices in the Properties Box for Intermec Printers is a HIBC Primary (Code 39Closed The 3 of 9 bar code is a variable length, discrete, self-checking, bidirectional, alphanumeric bar code.  Its character set contains 43 meaningful characters: 0-9, A-Z, -, ., $, /, %, *, and space.  Each character is composed of nine elements: five bars and four spaces.  Three of the nine elements are wide (binary value 1), and six elements are narrow (binary value 0).  The character (*) is used for both start and stop character.) and/or HIBC Secondary (Code 39). However, if a barcode is added to the label in this manner, and the label's Target Printer is changed, the barcode may no longer be displayed on the label. The solution in this case is to re-insert the barcodes on the label using the Barcode Wizard.
