'Net Send' fails when attempting to test notifications in the Loftware Notification Agent

Solution

Before attempting the information listed below, ensure that the Messenger Service is running on both the sending and recieving PCs.
Contact your Network Administrator before attempting this solution.
If the error 'The Messenger service terminated with service-specific error 2105' is displayed in the Event Viewer, one possible cause is that the NetBIOS Interface is missing from the Services tab in the Network Control Panel Applet.

To Add the NetBIOS Interface

In WinNT

1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Network icon in the Control Panel Applet.
3. Click Add under the Services tab, choose 'Netbios Interface', click OK; and Close to exit.

In Windows 2000

1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Network and Dial Up Connections icon.
3. Right-click on Local Area Connection, choose Properties.
4. Choose Install, highlight Protocol, click Add. This brings up the Select Network Protocol Properties Box.
5. Choose NWLinkIPX/SPX NetBios Compatable Transport Protocol, click OK.

You may be prompted to re-start your computer.
