Error Web Listener Logged Out Due To a Response From the Servlet...

The following error is generated from the Web Listener:

Explanation

When using Loftware's Web Listener client, you can run Web Listener-Interactive to detect any errors being logged by this client. After installing the Web Listener, one of the steps in the initial configuration is to download any device configurations assigned to your user name. 

If you receive the error, Web Listener Logged Out due to a response from the Servlet..., when attempting to start Web Listener-Interactive, it's likely you have not configured your printer after it was successfully downloaded from the LPS during the initial configuration, or the port selected is no longer valid. 

For example, switching a USB connected printer to a different USB port may change the port assignment from USB001 to USB002, making the initial port assigment, USB001, invalid.

  

Solution

Review the two screenshots below. In the first screenshot the device incorrectly has no port assigned to the printer. The Port information would typically contain a local port (i.e. COM1-4, LPT1-3, USB00x, etc.) or a TCP/IP address. 

In the next screenshot, the device was correctly configured by selecting the device shown in the Device Configuration window and then clicking on the Configure button.

If you believe the error message is due to a port assignment that is no longer valid, change the existing port assigment from its current value to a known good value, for example from USB001 to LPT1, then attempt to change it back again.  When you attempt to change it back, you may find that USB001 is no longer available, but another USB port such as USB002 is listed.

Result

Once the device has been assigned to a correct port, the Web Listener Logged Out due to a response from the Servlet... error should no longer appear when attempting to start Web Listener-Interactive.

After successfully testing connectivity and printing using Web Listener-Interactive, you can exit the Interactive program and start the Loftware Web Listener service.
