ODBC Text Driver Login Failed

Problem

ODBC Text Driver Login Failed error message is displayed when wrong version of ODBC is used.

Error Text:

"... is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides."

Explanation

When attempting to locate an ODBC data source the source must be connected to the correct version of ODBC

Loftware runs as a 32 bit app on 64 bit machines and in order for the connection to work the correct version of ODBC must be used to point to the Data SourceClosed Where data is extracted to produce labels. Loftware Label Manager provides a variety of data sources, including the keyboard, a database, serial number, a formula, via the UCC or UPN Wizard. For RFID labels and tags, data can come from the Keyboard data source or by configuring data blocks using the Block Configuration data source..
The file name is the same on both versions, but located in different directories. Whether you open ODBC from System32 or SysWoW64 the ODBC core components screen shows the same folder structure.

  • The ODBC that should be used in the 64 bit environment when using a Data Source created with a 32 bit application is located in %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64.
  • Default path is C:\Windows\SysWow64\odbcad32.exe -
  • To create a short cut browse to the referenced directory, right click and send to desktop.

Solution

Loftware recommends that you connect to the ODBC data source by going to the Start Menu; All Programs Loftware Labeling; Data Sources (ODBC). This ensures you are using the correct version.
