Converting Database Connections
Description
Is it possible to convert my label's database connections from one type of database to another without having to reconnect each field?
How to
In order to convert your database connections from one database type to another (dBase IV to Access for example) without having to reconnect the fields you need to re-configure your ODBC driver(s).
This assumes that the field names in the database have not changed.
- Navigate to Start | Programs | Loftware Labeling | Data Sources (ODBC)
- Remove your old driver first; note the name of the datasource and keep in mind that the data source name is case and space sensitive.
- Select the old data source from the list of configured data sources.
- Click Remove, and then click OK to confirm.
- Add a new driver:
- Click Add; then from the list of available ODBC drivers, select the one that corresponds to the type of database you are converting your labels to
- Click Finish.
- Enter the name of the old driver in the box labeled Data Source
Where data is extracted to produce labels. Loftware Label Manager provides a variety of data sources, including the keyboard, a database, serial number, a formula, via the UCC or UPN Wizard. For RFID labels and tags, data can come from the Keyboard data source or by configuring data blocks using the Block Configuration data source. Name. Again, keep in mind that the data source name is case and space sensitive. If the new driver is not named exactly as the old driver, you have to re-connect each database field on your labels. Entry of a Description is optional.
- Select the directory and/or database file that you want to connect to; click OK.
- Click OK until you have exited the ODBC administrator.
Your database connections should now be converted to the new driver.
