User Interface: Preferences (Designing)

The following are options that may be included in your user profile in System System Management and may be configurable in Preferences User .

Note: Even if Loftware Enterprise SP is configured so that you cannot change a preference that controls what is initially displayed when you sign in, you can still change what is displayed while working in a session of Loftware Enterprise SP.

General Preferences

Preference	Description
Display Language	The language used in the user interface of Loftware Enterprise SP. Options include the following: English Deutsch (German) Français (French) Español (Spanish) 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese) 繁體中文 (Traditional Chinese) Português (Portuguese) 日本語 (Japanese) Русский (Russian) 한국어 (Korean)
Landing Page	The page that is displayed when you sign in to Loftware Enterprise SP.
Home Folder	Folder in Loftware Enterprise SP initially selected and expanded in the tree when opening, saving, or printing.
Object View	Whether to display the objects on landing pages in Tile view (default) or List view.
Initial Label	If you selected Print or Applications , for Landing Page, select the label template, process, or application to initially load when you sign in to Loftware Enterprise SP.
Default Process	The process used if users to whom this profile is applied do not select a process when printing a label template from Print .
Reprint Process	The Reprint process used when users to whom this profile is applied click Reprint in Status.
Change Password	Display a dialog box that allows you to change your password for Loftware Enterprise SP.

Label/Document Preferences

Preference	Description
Size	The default size used when producing a label template.
Width	The default horizontal span of the label template. The unit of measure is as defined in Units under Design Preferences, or in Label Design under Options > Units.
Height	The default vertical span of the label template. The unit of measure is as defined in Units under Design Preferences, or in Label Design under Options > Units.
Shape	The default appearance of the outside edge of the label canvas when you create a new label template.
Orientation	Sets the default direction objects are aligned on the label when you create a new label template.
Document DPI	The default resolution in dots per inch for objects on the label.
Font Category	The default font category to be used on the label. TrueType® DPL Datamax-O'Neil Programming Language, a printer control language. EasyPlug EasyPlug, a printer command language by NOVEXX Solutions. NOVEXX Solutions originated from Avery Dennison's Industrial Paint & Apply (IPA) line of business. ESC/Label Epson ESC/Label, a printer control language. IPL Intermec Printer Language, a printer control language. PGL Printronix Graphics Language, a printer language from Printronix. SBPL SATO Barcode Program Language, a programming language for communication between a computer and a printer. TPCL Tec Printer Command Language, a programming language from Toshiba for communication between a computer and a printer. ZPL II Zebra Programming Language II, a printer control language. Note: If Use Label Font Category is selected, the default type of font is whatever type was most recently used by that user when creating a label template or reusable object.
New Document Dialog Box	Whether to display the Create Label dialog box when creating a new label template. If Bypass and use my preferences is selected and if Size (or Width and Height), Shape, Orientation, Document DPI, and Font Category are configured in your preferences, then the dialog box is not displayed. Otherwise, the dialog box is displayed.

Label Design Preferences

These preferences control what is initially displayed in Label Design when a Designer creates or edits a label template. However, even if these preferences are locked down, the Designer can change what is displayed for the current session by selecting options in Label Design .

Preference	Description
View	Whether to initially display the Form view, Label view, or both.
Units	The default unit of measure to be used to position and size objects in label templates. Options include inches, cm, and mm.
Align to Grid	Whether to initially force the top left corner of each object to align with the nearest alignment overlay dot or intersection of lines. Whether the grid is used can be configured in Grid.
Grid	Whether to initially display an overlay grid to assist Designers with aligning objects. The dots or lines of the grid are not displayed in printed labels or in the forms displayed to Data Providers. The type of grid can be configured in Grid Settings.
Grid Settings	The type of alignment overlay. Options include Dashed line, Dot, Dotted line, and Line. The dots or lines of the grid are not displayed in printed labels or in the forms displayed to Data Providers. Whether the grid is used can be configured in Grid.
Design Data	What data to show in fields when displaying a label template or a reusable object in Label Design . This option affects what is displayed in the Label View and Form View in Label Design , as well as what is displayed when you preview or print a label in Label Design . More specifically, this option affects what is displayed in text fields, barcode fields, and variable image fields. Default Value: The values specified in the Default Value property for each field are used. Placeholder: The data used for each field is placeholder data For a Variable Text field, the series of digits 1234567890, repeated until the maximum number of characters allowed for the field is displayed. For a barcode field, a sample barcode that adheres to the specified properties. For an image field, a sample image. Whether placeholder data is used in Label Design is controlled by the selection for Design Data. provided by Loftware Enterprise SP. Live Data Set: If configured, values from a live data set A collection of data (names and values) that was retrieved from a data source and is specific to a label template or a reusable object. A data set can be used to populate fields displayed in Label Design, in a preview, and when test printing. obtained from a Database data source, an Alternate data source, or a Date/Time data source are used. You can also add entries to the data set manually. Tip: If the Default Value field or the value from a live data set is empty or contains only a space and that option is selected, then a placeholder value is displayed in the Label View or Form View in Label Design . No visible indication of the field is displayed when you preview or print in Label Design . For more information, see Select Data to Display in Label Design.
Label Font	Default font to be used in Label View and on printed labels. The available options are restricted by the Font Category selected.
Label Font Size	For text in Label View and on printed labels, the default size of text in points. This property may not be used by some fonts.
Form Font	Default font to be used in Form View and in forms displayed to Data Providers.
Form Font Size	For text in Form View and in forms displayed to Data Providers, the default size of the text in points. This property may not be used by some fonts.

Print Preferences

These preferences control the default options when printing from Print Print . However, even if these options are locked down, you can change printing options for the current session on Print Print .

Preference	Description
Default Device	The device A physical printer, print queue, or other target for output, such as an image file or a PDF file. used unless you select a different device at print time.
Clear Fields	Whether to automatically reset all values entered in the form for on-demand print after printing occurs.
Allow Print Preview	Whether the Preview button is displayed in Print . Note: To use Print Preview, a user should have a role with Print permission for Documents, have Print permission for Documents for folders containing label templates and images to be previewed, and have Allow Print Preview selected in Preferences .
View Data Map on Print Page	Whether to allow a user to click the object title in Print or Applications and display the data map entries in a dialog box. For more information, see View the Print Data.
