Media Options for Printronix Devices
If the Family selected is Family Driver and the Model selected is PGL Printronix Graphics Language, a printer language from Printronix., then the Media tab displays the following options. Some options may not be relevant to some device models.
If the Family selected is Printronix and a specific model is selected, then only options appropriate to that model are displayed. For more information about drivers and Loftware Enterprise™ SP, see Managing Devices.

Media Type |
The printing method used by the device. |
Direct Thermal (No Ribbon): Uses heat sensitive label stock without a ribbon. The print head is activated as the label moves underneath heating the label stock and activating the heat sensitive material in the stock causing darkening of the material. To increase the quality of the print, decrease/increase the speed and increase/decrease the heat as necessary. Thermal Transfer (Ribbon): Uses ribbon and non-heat sensitive label stock to print. The print head is activated as the label moves underneath heating the ribbon material and melting it onto the label. To increase the quality of the print decrease/increase the speed and increase/decrease the heat as necessary. (Default) Do Not Send Option: No value for this option is sent to the device. Select this value if you want to configure the option at your device. |
Stock Type |
The type of media loaded in the device and the method used to detect the top of the next label. |
Advanced Gap Stock: Media with a gap between die cut labels and black background on label stock backing (liner). (Default) Advanced Notch Stock: Media with notches or holes that interrupt a black vertical line on the label stock backing between labels. Continuous Stock: Media with no gaps or lines between labels. Gap Stock: Media with a gap between die cut labels on label stock backing. Media may have pre-punched notches or holes. Mark Stock: Media with a horizontal black line between labels on label stock backing. Do Not Send Option: No value for this option is sent to the device. Select this value if you want to configure the option at your device. |
Print Speed |
The speed at which the media travels over the print head. |
2 to 10 inches per second (ips) Default: 6 |
Slew Rate |
The speed at which the media is fed when advancing over non-printing areas. The value selected may affect printer throughput. |
