DevicesMedia Options for Monarch Devices

If the Family selected is Family driver and the Model selected is MPCLClosed Monarch Printer Control Language, a printer control language by Avery Dennison., then the Media tab displays the following options. Some options may not be relevant to some device models.

If the Family selected is Monarch and a specific model is selected, then only options appropriate to that model are displayed. For more information about drivers and Loftware Enterprise™ SP, see Managing Devices.

Option Description Values

Media Type

The thermal transferClosed A printing method that uses ribbon and non-heat sensitive media to print. The print head is activated as the media moves underneath, heating the ribbon material and melting it onto the label. To increase the quality of the print decrease/increase the speed and increase/decrease the heat as necessary. Also called thermotransfer. or direct thermalClosed A printing method that uses heat sensitive media and no ribbon. The print head is activated as the media moves underneath, heating the media and activating the heat sensitive material in the stock causing darkening of the material. To increase the quality of the print, decrease/increase the speed and increase/decrease the heat as necessary. media and printing method used by the device.

The type of media loaded in the device and the method used to detect the top of the next label.

Print Speed (ips)

The speed at which the media travels over the print head during printing.

1ips to 12 ips

Default: 6ips

Supply Position

The distance in increments of 1/203 of an inch by which to move the printing position up or down to adjust for mechanical tolerances among printers. This distance is parallel to the direction of printing and is relative to the index marks if such exist. Increasing this value moves the position of what is printed upward relative to the media.

Note: The Supply position affects the Backfeed dispense position and Backfeed distance.
