Advanced Options for Epson Devices

If the Family selected is Family Driver and the Model selected is ESC/Label, then the Advanced tab displays the following options. Some options may not be relevant to some device models.

If the Family selected is Epson and a specific model is selected, then only options appropriate to that model are displayed. For more information about drivers and Loftware Enterprise™ SP, see Managing Devices.

Advanced Options

Option	Description	Values
Always Download Format	Whether the label template is sent with every print request.	: The label template is not sent. (Default) : The label template is sent.
Send Device Options	Whether to send device options configured in Loftware Enterprise SP to the device, or to use the device options configured on the device. When this check box is cleared, the options that are configured on the device are disabled in Loftware Enterprise SP.	: Use device options configured on the device. : Send all device options configured in Loftware Enterprise SP to the device. (Default)
Print Label As Image	Whether Loftware Enterprise SP should render the entire label as an image or generate each field individually. If individually, the field is rendered natively by the device if possible. If the device does not support native rendering of the field, then Loftware Enterprise SP generates an image for the field.	: Render fields individually. (Default if supported for device) : Render entire label as an image.
Force Stacking Order of Fields	Whether to enforce the stacking order displayed in Label Design if a label template contains a combination of native and imaged fields. Select this option if a native field prints behind an imaged field when it should print on top of the imaged field based on its stacking order.	: The stacking order is not enforced. : The stacking order is enforced.

Device Contact

Loftware Enterprise SP can contact devices to request information. For each device, you can configure how long Loftware Enterprise SP waits for a response and whether Loftware Enterprise SP repeats the request if no response is received.

Note: These options are applied only when On-Demand Status or a business rule prompts Loftware Enterprise SP to request detailed status from a device. These options are not used when performing periodic device status checks.

Read Retry Attempts Source	When Loftware Enterprise SP requests information from a device and does not receive a response, you can specify the maximum number of times that Loftware Enterprise SP should repeat the request. If the maximum number of retry attempts is made without receiving a response, Loftware Enterprise SP reports an error. This option allows you to configure whether the number of retry attempts is managed via a global setting or a value that you customize for this device. Tip: You can view the value of the global setting in System by clicking System Properties. For Namespace, enter deviceManagement to filter the list, and then view the system key named connection.readRetry.count.	Use Global Setting: The maximum number of retry attempts is specified by a global system key. (Default) Custom Value: The Read Retry Attempts option is displayed and overrides the global setting.
Read Retry Attempts	The maximum number of times that Loftware Enterprise SP should repeat a request to the device. Note: This option is displayed only if Read Retry Attempts Source is set to Custom Value.	0 to 10 retry attempts Default: 3
Read Wait Time Source	When Loftware Enterprise SP requests information from a device, you can specify how long Loftware Enterprise SP waits to receive a response from the device before repeating the request or reporting an error. This option allows you to configure whether the wait time is managed via a global setting or a value that you customize for this device. Tip: You can view the value of the global setting in System by clicking System Properties. For Namespace, enter deviceManagement to filter the list, and then view the system key named connection.readWait.time_msec. The value is in milliseconds.	Use Global Setting: The wait time is specified by a global system key. (Default) Custom Value: The Read Wait Time option is displayed and overrides the global setting.
Read Wait Time	How long Loftware Enterprise SP should wait to receive a response from the device before repeating the request or reporting an error. Note: This option is displayed only if Read Wait Time Source is set to Custom Value.	100 to 9999ms Default: 1000ms
Close Connection Wait Time Source	When a job is complete and Loftware Enterprise SP has issued a command to close the communication connection that was established with the device, you can specify how long Loftware Enterprise SP should wait to receive an acknowledgment from the device before reporting an error. This option allows you to configure whether the wait time is managed via a global setting or a value that you customize for this device. Tip: You can view the value of the global setting in System by clicking System Properties. For the Namespace, enter deviceManagement to filter the list, and then view the system key named socket.sotimeout.disconnect.time_sec. The value is in seconds.	Use Global Setting: The wait time is specified by a global system key. (Default) Custom Value: The Close Connection Wait Time option is displayed and overrides the global setting.
Close Connection Wait Time	How long Loftware Enterprise SP should wait to receive an acknowledgment from the device after sending a command to close the communication connection established for the job before reporting an error. Note: This option is displayed only if Close Connection Wait Time Source is set to Custom Value.	0 to 9999s Default: 0s If 0s is selected, Loftware Enterprise SP will wait indefinitely for a response.

Read Retry Attempts Source

When Loftware Enterprise SP requests information from a device and does not receive a response, you can specify the maximum number of times that Loftware Enterprise SP should repeat the request. If the maximum number of retry attempts is made without receiving a response, Loftware Enterprise SP reports an error.

This option allows you to configure whether the number of retry attempts is managed via a global setting or a value that you customize for this device.

Tip: You can view the value of the global setting in System by clicking System Properties. For Namespace, enter deviceManagement to filter the list, and then view the system key named connection.readRetry.count.

Read Retry Attempts

The maximum number of times that Loftware Enterprise SP should repeat a request to the device.

Read Wait Time Source

When Loftware Enterprise SP requests information from a device, you can specify how long Loftware Enterprise SP waits to receive a response from the device before repeating the request or reporting an error.

This option allows you to configure whether the wait time is managed via a global setting or a value that you customize for this device.

Use Global Setting: The wait time is specified by a global system key. (Default)

Custom Value: The Read Wait Time option is displayed and overrides the global setting.

Read Wait Time

How long Loftware Enterprise SP should wait to receive a response from the device before repeating the request or reporting an error.

Note: This option is displayed only if Read Wait Time Source is set to Custom Value.

100 to 9999ms

Default: 1000ms

Close Connection Wait Time Source

When a job is complete and Loftware Enterprise SP has issued a command to close the communication connection that was established with the device, you can specify how long Loftware Enterprise SP should wait to receive an acknowledgment from the device before reporting an error.

This option allows you to configure whether the wait time is managed via a global setting or a value that you customize for this device.

Tip: You can view the value of the global setting in System by clicking System Properties. For the Namespace, enter deviceManagement to filter the list, and then view the system key named socket.sotimeout.disconnect.time_sec. The value is in seconds.

Close Connection Wait Time

How long Loftware Enterprise SP should wait to receive an acknowledgment from the device after sending a command to close the communication connection established for the job before reporting an error.

Note: This option is displayed only if Close Connection Wait Time Source is set to Custom Value.

0 to 9999s

Default: 0s

If 0s is selected, Loftware Enterprise SP will wait indefinitely for a response.

Quality

Option	Description	Values
Print Quality	Whether to favor speed (Max Speed) or detail (Quality).	Max Speed Speed Normal Quality Do Not Send Option: No value for this option is sent to the device. Select this value if you want to configure the option at your device.
Color Correction	Whether to use a color correction mode based on the type of media coating or based on the sRGB color space.	EPSON Preferred Color: Print using color correction optimized for the selected type of media coating. (Default) EPSON Standard: Print using color correction matched to the sRGB color space.
Black: Color Ratio	The ratio of black ink to color ink.	-6 to 4 Default: 0
Banding Reduction	Fine tuning to minimize the vertical striping effect that ink jet printers may produce in large printed regions.	-2 to 2 Default: 0
Bar Width Correction	For barcodes that include bars, fine tuning of the width of the bars in the barcode. If running ink is impairing barcode scanning, adjusting this setting may improve scanning results.	-2 to 2 Default: 0
Head Maintenance	Whether the printer can automatically clean a nozzle by printing a drop into a side catch tray when the nozzle not in use during the printing process.	Pause for Maintenance: Allows the printer to automatically clean a nozzle when it is not in use during the printing process. (Default) Continuous Printing: The printer is not permitted to pause to automatically clean its nozzles during printing.
Ink Dry Time (s)	Pause the print head movement for up to 60 seconds after each pass to allow ink to dry.	0 to 60 seconds Default: 0
Print Direction	Whether to print in both directions (right-to-left and left-to-right), speeding up printing, but may reduce print quality.	Bidirectional Unidirectional

Manual Color Adjustment

Pass Through File Types

You can configure Loftware Enterprise SP to pass an external file directly to a device without the need to associate the file with a label template. This allows you to print files that were created outside of Loftware Enterprise SP while still saving auditing data for the printed file. For example, you can select PDF under Pass Through File Types to print a PDF file from a public server or URL without creating or selecting a label template for printing.

Script

Loftware Enterprise™ SP uses the Rhino JavaScript engine for Script data sources and supports both the Rhino and Nashorn JavaScript engines for use in scripts in business rules. Rhino is an open source JavaScript engine maintained by the Mozilla Foundation, and Nashorn is an open source JavaScript engine maintained by Oracle. These engines enable you to parse, compile, and run JavaScript statements.
