Importing Multiple Devices
To import the information for multiple devices into Loftware Enterprise SP, you must first create a file (in CSV format) that contains the option names and associated values for your devices. The internal (database) names for these device options differ from the names used in the user interface. For information about matching device option names to the names used in the export/import file, see Export/Import Names.
Note: The export/import feature does not support all the available device options.
The recommended method of creating this file is by creating model devices and exporting the settings from Devices
To import multiple devices into Loftware Enterprise SP, use this procedure.
- If you do not have existing devices in Loftware Enterprise SP, follow the instructions in Adding a Device to create a model device for the devices you will be importing. Repeat this step for each unique device family you will be importing, being sure to set the options appropriately for your devices.
- Follow the instructions in Export Devices to create an export file that contains the information about your devices.
- Add a row to the file for each of the devices you want to add to Loftware Enterprise SP. At a minimum, you must add information for the following fields:
- NAME - Device Group Name
- FOLDER - Loftware Enterprise SP folder where the device should be saved
- FAMILY - The printer language grouping for the device
- MODEL - The printer model being added
- DESCRIPTION - Text that describes the device or its purpose
- IPADDRESS - The network location of the device
- Change or add the option values as needed for your devices.
- Follow the instructions in Import Devices to import your devices into Loftware Enterprise SP.
