Take Control of a Version-Controlled Object

In certain cases it may be necessary to check in an object that is checked out to another user.

Note: Performing this task for label templates, applications, business rules, forms, images, layer objects, layouts, reusable objects, or workflow templates requires Write and Admin permissions for Documents. Likewise, performing this task for other types of objects requires Write and Admin permissions for the relevant object types. By default LOCAL_ADMINClosed A Loftware role with most administrator permissions as well as all of the permissions for a DOCUMENT_DESIGNER and a DOCUMENT_PRINTER. By default, all pages are displayed to users with this role. has these permissions for all objects that support version controlClosed The following types of objects are version controlled when saved in a version-controlled folder: label templates, forms, images, layer objects, layouts, reusable objects, field data catalogs, applications, business rules, processes, workflow templates, and data services. Images do not support minor versions.. Additionally, the user performing this task must have object access permissions for the object they want to take control of. For more information, see Object Access Permissions.

  1. Click File > Version Control > Take Control.
  2. In the Version Control Comment dialog box, enter a description by which to identify the version that you are creating.
  3. Click OK.

The object is checked out to you. You can now open and edit the object in Label Design Label Design, Process Design Process Design, or Data Services Data Services as appropriate, or you can check in and publish from the File > Version Control menu. If you want to discard the changes in the latest version rather than check them in, you can do so by using the Undo Checkout command.
