Access ControlCategorize an Object

In Loftware Enterprise SP, users can categorize certain objects by assigning tags to them. Each tag has a category and a value. A tag can be assigned to an application, business rule, data service, device group, facility, field data catalog, form, image, integration, label template, layer object, layout, process, Remote Site, reusable object, user, or workflow template. If an object is version-controlled, you can only add or change tags assigned to the current checked-out version, and you cannot change tags in a previously checked-in version.

Note: If a label template or other object is version controlled, you must check it out before you can assign tags or change which tags are assigned. Each version of the object can have different tags applied. However, you cannot change the tags applied in a previous version of an object.

Tip: Each tag category has a name, and a static tag category also has a list of associated values. You can manage tag categories in System System Management. For more information, see Managing Tag Categories.

To categorize an object with tags in Access Control Access Control, use this procedure.

  1. Go to Access Control Access Control
  2. Click a taggable object in the Access Control Tree.
  1. Click the View tab, and then click Tags.
  2. In the Tag Values dialog box, perform one or more of the following actions.
    • To assign a tag to the object, click Add. In the Tag Values dialog box, select a Category from the drop-down list. For Value, select a value from the drop-down list (static tag) or type a value (variable tag). Click OK.

Note: For static tags, the available values are dependent on the category selected.

    • To change a tag that has been assigned to the object, click the row of the tag and then click Edit . Select a new category and/or value, and then click OK.
    • To remove a tag from the object, click the row for that tag and then click Delete.

Tip: Deleting a tag from an object does not delete the tag category from Loftware Enterprise SP. You can add a new tag to the object and select that same category again.

  3. When you are finished making changes to the tag values, close the Tag Values dialog box.

Built-in Tag Category: Source

A built-in tag category named Source is included with Loftware Enterprise SP. It is designed for use in a tag that characterizes the origin of an object. If an object supports tags, then a tag with a category of Source and a value of Spectrum is automatically assigned to it the first time that the object is saved.

Value Purpose
System The object was built in to Loftware Enterprise SP.
LPS The object was created in Loftware Print Server (LPS) and was migrated to Loftware Enterprise SP.
Spectrum The object was created in Loftware Enterprise SP.
Unknown The origin of the object is unknown.
