Remote Printing with Loftware Remote Print
Remote printing is the act of printing a label to a device in an environment where the device cannot connect to the Loftware Application Server by ordinary means. In such situations, the device cannot connect to the Loftware Application Server via TCP/IP connection, server spooler connection, or remote spooler (LPR) connection.

The Loftware Print Agent must be installed on the remote computer so that it can communicate with the Loftware Application Server and make devices at that location available in Loftware. The Loftware Print Agent can support both Loftware Enterprise SP Native devices and Windows devices, either directly connected to the remote computer, connected via TCP/IP, or connected via LPR protocol. For example, you can use remote printing to print to a device that is physically connected to a computer outside your WAN.
Within Loftware Enterprise SP, a Device Admin A user who creates and configures devices in Loftware. Some Device Admins may have permissions to manage Remote Sites. or an administrator is required to configure any devices using Loftware Remote Print. A Device Admin that is responsible for configuring devices for use with Loftware Remote Print requires Read and Write permissions for Remote Sites and Read and Write permissions for Device Groups in Loftware Enterprise SP.
The Loftware Print Agent
The Loftware Print Agent is a client-side service that is installed on a remote computer. After the Loftware Print Agent is associated with a Remote Site, it connects to Loftware Enterprise SP to receive print jobs, provide device and status information, and receive configuration information as needed. After it is installed, all configuration and management of remote printing is provided through Loftware Enterprise SP.
Getting Started with Loftware Remote Print
To configure Loftware Remote Print, the following tasks must be performed:
- Configure a Remote Site (Loftware Enterprise SP administrator or Device Admin)
- Install the Loftware Print Agent (Loftware Enterprise SP administrator or Device Admin and administrator of the remote computer)
- Add Devices for a Remote Site (Loftware Enterprise SP administrator or Device Admin)
