DevicesUser Interface: Remote Site Options

The following properties are displayed in Devices Devices in the Configuration panel for a Remote SiteClosed An object in Loftware that represents the location of a remote computer. The Loftware Print Agent must be installed on the remote computer so that it can communicate with the Loftware Application Server and make devices at that location available in Loftware. Each Remote Site can communicate with only one Loftware Application Server..

Note: Except for Maximum Number of Devices, these properties are displayed only after the Remote Site has been saved for the first time, and their values are not configurable.

Last Contact

Date and time when the Loftware Print AgentClosed A client-side service that must be installed on a remote computer so that it can communicate with the Loftware Application Server and permit printing. The Loftware Print Agent connects to Loftware to receive print jobs, provide device and status information, and receive configuration information as needed. on the remote computer most recently made contact with the Loftware Application Server.

Maximum Number of Devices

The maximum number of devices associated with the remote computer that may be configured for use with Loftware Enterprise SP.

Devices

A list of the devices available via the remote computer and configured in Loftware Enterprise SP.

Loftware Print Agent

The following properties and buttons are displayed under Loftware Print Agent in the Configuration panel for a Remote Site.

Note: These properties are displayed only after the Remote Site has been saved for the first time, and their values are not configurable.

Token

An alphanumeric token allows a Loftware Application Server to identify a Loftware Print Agent that attempts to communicate with Loftware Enterprise SP. A token is unique to the Remote Site with which it is associated. This token does not participate with authentication. Username and password are used for authentication.

Tip: The Remote Site Administrator requires the token during installation of the Loftware Print Agent.

Version

The version number of the Loftware Print Agent. The version number of the Loftware Print Agent is independent from the version number of Loftware Enterprise SP and they are not expected to match.

Note: The value is None until the remote computer connects to Loftware Enterprise SP for the first time.

Button

Description

Download

Allows you to download the Loftware Print Agent so that it can be installed on a remote computer.

Upgrade

Allows you to update the Loftware Print Agent.

Note: This button is only displayed if you installed the Loftware Print Agent in Loftware Enterprise SP 4.6 or later versions. If you installed the Remote Print Agent in Loftware Enterprise SP 4.5.1 or earlier versions, you must use the Download button. For more information, see Upgrading Loftware Remote Print.

Manage Properties

Allows you to modify Loftware Print Agent properties from Loftware Enterprise SP without needing access to the remote computer. Settings configured here are pushed down to the remote computer. For more information, see User Interface: Loftware Print Agent Properties.

Note: This button is only displayed if you installed the Loftware Print Agent in Loftware Enterprise SP 4.6 or later versions.

Upload Log Files

If enabled, allows you to upload all log files related to the Loftware Print Agent to the Loftware Application Server. To enable, click Manage Properties and set the TracingEnabled property to True.

When finished uploading, the log files can be viewed in the default location:
http://<Server IP>:8080/logs

Alternatively, if you have installed Loftware Enterprise SP in a distributed services environment you can specify a shared location for the uploaded log files by adding the log.upload.directory property in the lpa namespace in System System ManagementSystem Properties.
