Date Offset

The Date Offset function defines the number of days, months, and/or years you can add to or subtract from a specified date (the current date or any past/future date).

Use the Date Offset function when you need to print the already defined date variable together with a date that includes offset. For example, a production date and expiry date.

Note

You can also use a negative date offset. With the Current Date variable, you can't use a negative offset.

To create the Date Offset function:

  1. Click the Data icon to open the Data Sources menu.

  2. Expand the Functions drop-down menu, then click New Date Offset.
  3. The Date Offset function properties window opens. in the Definition section, you can define your function name and add a function description.
  4. In the Input data sources section, insert your data source.

    Note

After you add your data source, the error message will disappear.

    Note

If your input data is other than the Current Date variable, input data must be in the same date format as defined in the Date Offset function > Output Rules > Output format.

Click the data source icon to add data sources to your function. You can add a variable, a database field, a function, or a fixed text.

  5. In the Date Offset section define your date offset (days, months, and years). You can use fixed values or data sources. You can also define negative values.
  6. In the Output Rules section, define the format of the printed date in the drop down menu. You can select among predefined formats. You can't define your own customized formats.

    Note

If you use input data other than the Current Date variable, input data must be in the same format as defined in the Output format.

  7. Ignore empty values option removes the delimiters if the variable value is empty.
