Troubleshooting

Web Designer doesn't open my label.

There are different reasons why Web Designer can't open your label, and you can only see your label's preview:

  • You are offline.

  • Web Designer doesn't support all functionalities from desktop Designer.

    [Note] Note

For more compatibility information, see Web Designer versus desktop Designer.

  • The files are in read-only mode.

  • For Cloud Essentials and Cloud Business: another user checked out the files.

  • For LoftwareCloud Essentials and LoftwareCloud Business: you don't have permission to see or edit the file.

  • For LoftwareCloud Essentials and LoftwareCloud Business, the file is not checked out (See Checking out files or folders).

To open your label, you have to check it out first.

When you finish editing in Web Designer, the files stay checked out until you check in them in Control Center's Documents. There is no option to check in or check out files from Web Designer.

If you can't open your label with Web Designer, right-click on the file name and select Edit on Desktop from the drop-down menu. Desktop Designer opens.

I can't use the Preview & Print button.

If your label contains no objects, the Preview & Print button is disabled.

After you add any object to your label design, the Preview & Print button will be enabled.

I can't see my printers.

You can only print to printers connected to the computers with Loftware desktop installations installed. Loftware clients must be connected to your Control Center.

[Note] Note

If you don't see your printers, go to the I can't see my printers topic.

I can't delete variables, functions, or database connections.

If you want to delete your data sources, you must first delete all label objects that are connected to your data sources. Otherwise, you get the following error:
