About Web Designer

Web Designer is a web-hosted application you can access from Control Center.

In Web Designer you can:

Web Designer is similar to Loftware desktop Designer you may already be familiar with. See Web Designer vs desktop Designer on how the two applications compare.

Web Designer always opens in your current browser tab.

To open Web Designer in a new tab, first open Control Center in a new tab or a different browser.

In Web Designer, only one user can edit a label at a time. Other users see the label as locked.

Some functionalities are available in certain Loftware product editions, like versioning (See Checking out files or folders).

Labels stored in Cloud Business edition of Control Center might use versioning. If your labels are checked in, you can't edit them in Web Designer. First check out your labels.

How do I access Web Designer?

Web Designer is part of Control Center. There are three ways to access Web Designer from Control Center:

  • Go to Dashboard, and click the Create new label button.

    Control Center prompts you to select your printer. Then, Web Designer opens with a blank design surface.

  • Create a new label from Documents:

    Right-click to open a drop-down menu, then select New Label. After you select your printer, Web Designer opens in your current tab with a blank design surface.

  • Open an existing label from Documents.

    Go to Documents and select a label. Right-click on the label name to open a drop-down menu, and select Edit. Web Designer opens in your current tab with your selected label.

    If any objects or functions are unsupported by Web Designer, you will be prompted to open the file with desktop Designer. In this case, try to access Web Designer by selecting a different label file.
