Barcode

You can find barcodes on all product and shipping labels. Barcodes represent coded data that barcode scanners can decode. Barcodes usually contain your product code, expiration date, serial number, and shipping data.

Select and configure your barcodes according to your needs in Barcode object properties. You can select among many standard barcodes, including:

  • Code128

  • QR

  • GS1-128

  • Code-39

  • Ean-13

The default barcode is Code128. You can change your barcode type in the barcode properties panel.

Adding barcodes to labels

To add a barcode to your label design:

  1. In your Objects panel click the Barcode icon.

  2. Click where you want to put your Barcode object on your label design surface.

To move your barcode, click and drag the Barcode object.

To resize your barcode, drag the corners of your Barcode object.

To rotate your barcode, drag the small circle symbol above your Barcode object. You can rotate your barcode by 90, 180, or 270 degrees.

You can also rotate your Barcode by any degree in the B arcodeProperties panel.

Setting barcode properties

To set or edit your barcode properties, click your barcode object. The Properties panel opens on the right side of your screen.

In barcode properties pane, you can insert your barcode content, change your barcode type (for example, Code128, Ean-13, or QR), and rotate your barcode.

  • You can manually define your barcode dimensions, position, and rotation data. You can rotate your barcodes by any degree.

  • Data Source: Select your barcode content source:

    • You can manually type Fixed Data.

    • Using Variables, you can enter your values at print time.

    • Your barcode can contain GS-1 or Concatenate Function.

    • You can select values from your Database.

  • In the Style section, you can:

    • Set your barcode type and dimensions. The default barcode is Code 128. You can change the barcode type to 1D or 2D barcodes.

    • Color: If your printer enables color printing, you can select your barcode color.

    • Configure other barcode details, like human readable, code page, and encoding type. They are different for each barcode type. For more information and detailed barcode descriptions, see the Barcode details topic.

  • By default, label objects have the status Printable. You can disable the Printable status if you don't want your text object to be printed. For example, you would like to put some comments on your label design but don't want them to be printed. Non-printable text objects will also not show on the label preview.

  • Anchoring: Anchoring point is where your label object is pinned to the design surface. Variable size objects (variable text, barcodes) increase or decrease their size in the opposite direction of the selected anchoring point.

Use the right-click menu or keyboard shortcuts to:

  • Copy

  • Cut

  • Paste

  • Delete

your barcodes.
