Working with label objects

Working with label objects

Web Designer is similar to other widely known graphic design software. You use objects (texts, barcodes, pictures...) to create your label designs.

Available options:

Adding objects

To add an object to your label design, click on the object in the Objects panel, then click on the label where you want to add your object. You can adjust your object's size with resizing options.

[Note] Note

For testing purposes (for example, when exploring your database or counter values), you can also place your objects outside the label. Objects (or parts of objects) outside the label do not print.

Selecting objects

Select your object by clicking your object. Your object properties show on the right side of your screen. You can edit the object name, align options, data source, and other options. See also Setting object properties.

Selecting multiple objects

Combine your label objects into a group when you want to resize, move, or delete multiple objects at the same time.

To select your objects, drag your mouse diagonally over your objects. While dragging, a purple rectangle appears, which marks your selected objects. All objects within your purple rectangle are included in your selection.

[Note] Note

You can also select objects by holding <Shift> while clicking your objects.

To deselect your objects, click anywhere outside your selection, label, or design surface.

Moving objects

To move your object, click, hold, and drag your object.

Copying, cutting, and pasting label objects

To copy, cut, and paste label objects, right-click your objects, then select the action from the context menu. You can also click your object and use standard keyboard shortcuts.

[Note] Note

Objects can be copied either to the current label design or to other labels.

Resizing objects

There are three ways to resize your objects:

  • Separately resize your width or length by dragging the small squares at the edges of your object.

    [Note] Note

To resize pictures by changing the aspect ratio, hold the <Shift> key while dragging the picture edges.

  • Resize both dimensions by dragging the corners of your object.

    [Note] Note

To maintain the aspect ratio (to create, for example, a circle or a square), hold down <Shift> while dragging.

  • You can change the dimensions and positions of your objects in the object properties pane.

Aligning objects

You can align one object to another simply by moving your object near your desired position. When your object approaches the aligned position, a smart guide (dashed line) appears. If you “release” your object, your object snaps to the aligned position.

[Note] Note

Print your test label when you set the Fill option other than None. Your printout might look different than your label design preview.

To test your printouts, try different Graphic Options (Dithering values) in your Loftware driver settings > Printer Settings.

  1. On the computer where Loftware driver is installed, open Windows Settings, then go to Printers & scanners.

  2. Click your printer, then click Manage to open Loftware printer driver settings.

  3. Click Printing preferences to open the Printer Settings window.

  4. Go to the Graphic Options tab and adjust the Dithering option.

  5. Print test labels with different levels of dithering.

Rotating objects

You can rotate your objects by 90, 180, or 270 degrees on the design surface. The rotation snaps every 90 degrees. The Line object rotation snaps every 15 degrees.

[Note] Note

You can rotate Line objects by any degree by holding the <Shift> key while rotating.

To rotate your objects by 1-degree steps, click the object and manually enter the rotation value.

To rotate your object on the design surface:

  1. Select your object.

  2. Click the blue dot at the top of your object and drag it into your desired rotation direction. Your object rotates around its central point.

Deleting objects

You can delete your object if you click your object and press the <Delete> button or right-click > Delete.

Setting object properties

When you click on the object, you can edit the settings in the Properties pane on the right side of your screen.

Different objects have different properties. For example, for the Text object, you can choose between different font types and set your font's size, style, text alignment, and data source. Check the descriptions of each object's properties in separate topics:
