Problem

When sending a print job to the printer, the LPS Status Client print queue shows this error at the printer:  (M1533) Socket Error (M1558) Connection reset by peer, then the label doesn't print. The LPS Status Client print queue shows this error at the printer:

Explanation

Typically a network connectivity issue. It usually indicates an error with the print server or printer (internal NIC) connected to the network, as it is the printer that is closing the connection, not the LPS.

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. This normally results if the peer application on the remote host is suddenly stopped, the host is rebooted, the host or remote network interface is disabled, or the remote host uses a hard close. This error may also result if a connection was broken due to keep-alive activity detecting a failure while one or more operations are in progress.

Solution

Reset the printers and try again. This will usually resolve the problem. In the past, it has been seen that the user can often ping the printer/print server from the LPS server where the IP address is reachable, however the "Peer" was resetting the connection.
