When printing a large image on an Intermec printer, I get one of the following errors:

Printer will not acknowledge packet in <NAK>' or 'Internal Syntax error 36

When an image or text field that utilizes a TrueType font reaches a certain size in width or height (usually 3"x3" or 4"x4" on Intermec printers) LLM-WIN32 attempts to print the label using Direct Graphics. The ability of a printer to utilize direct graphics is firmware-dependent and as such, errors such as those described above may occur if an image is large enough to force Loftware to attempt to use Direct Graphics on a printer that does not support the technology.
The point at which Direct Graphics is used depends upon the resolution of the printer; the lower the print head DPI, the larger the image can be before Loftware attempts to use Direct Graphics. If you are receiving either of the above-mentioned errors, you have the following 3 options:

  1. Change the resolution to a lower setting under Label Setup.
  2. Upgrade the firmware on the printer (contact your Intermec representative about firmware upgrades).
  3. Incrementally decrease the image size to a smaller width and/or height until the label prints correctly.
